Silver maple’s natural habitat is in the Eastern US and Canada. Its fruits (samarae) are covered by a wing-shaped fibrous tissue that allows dispersal by spinning like a helicopter rotor's blade. Thus, they gently fall from the tree and drift away from it carried by North America's springtime winds.
