This portrait belongs to the ancient Buddhist kingdoms of Indochina where faithful devotees paste gold to their holiest relics for a better Karma. KUTHO takes inspiration from a Burmese concept of Merit. It talks about religion associated with power and the relationship between the visible / not visible. I use the same leafs as a memory of the light on those faithful men who can touch the sacred. A grace that we women are forgiven to access.
