The Roman Catholic Metro cathedral in Liverpool is designed in the Brutalist Style by Frederick Gibberd. Building commenced in 1962 and was completed by 1967. It is based on a circular plan, very loosely influenced by Oscar Niemeyer. Locally it is known as "Paddy's Wigwam"
