Valeria Isaeva was born in Russia in 1994. She studied photography (BA) at AKTO (in partnership with Middlesex University of London). Her thesis explored the fusion of photography with performing arts, focusing on contemporary dance and performance. As a freelance photographer for the past five years, she collaborated with cultural institutions such as Greek National Opera, National Theatre of Greece, and Athens & Epidaurus Festival among others.
Her photographic work focuses on self-portraiture, aiming to delve into the depths of her own being, using disguise as a means of achieving redemption. Themes of memory, nostalgia, and the interplay between the comic and the tragic became central to her artistic exploration.
