Galia Lerner is a fine art photographer based in the Haifa area of Israel, specializing in still life photography with a poetic, contemplative style. Her passion for photography began in her childhood, where she developed film and printed photographs in a home darkroom—an experience that sparked a lifelong creative journey.
Galia was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1960, and later moved to Ukraine, where she earned a Master’s degree in engineering. In 1990, she immigrated to Israel and now lives in the Haifa area. Galia also holds a Master’s degree in teaching physics from the Technion and works as a high school physics teacher, blending scientific discipline with creative expression.
In 2000, Galia completed the School of Photography at the Technion Haifa and became a certified studio photographer. Her work explores quiet narratives through composition, texture, and light, drawing on both artistic intuition and technical precision. Her photographs have been published in international magazines, including International Kid, and exhibited in competitions worldwide.
She was awarded an Honorable Mention at PX3 Paris 2024 in the Still Life category and has earned multiple honors in the 35AWARDS international photography competition.
Galia works primarily with the light painting method, using long exposure and carefully directed light to sculpt each scene with intimacy and intention. Her imagery reflects a deep sensitivity to the hidden beauty of everyday objects, echoing the traditions of classical painting through a modern lens.
