Nathaniel Gaskell, Director, Exhibition Programming (STPI, Singapore)
Nathaniel Gaskell is a curator and editor based in Singapore. He was director of the Tasveer Gallery (2010β2014), Associate Director of the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), Bengaluru (2014β2019), and then Executive Director of its educational platform, Impart (2019β2024). In 2024 Nathaniel joined STPI, Singapore, where he is Director of Exhibition Programming.
He is co-author of Photography in India: A Visual History from the 1850s to the Present (Prestel, 2018) and editor of Jyoti Bhatt: Time & Time Again (MAP, 2023). Curatorial projects include India Through the Lens (National Museum of Bahrain, 2014), From the Colonial to the Contemporary (Monash Gallery of Art, Melbourne, 2022), and Ticket Tika Chaap: The Art of the Trademark in the Indo-British Textile Trade (MAP and Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, 2024-25). At STPI he has organised exhibitions by Wifredo Lam, Pacita Abad, Zarina Hashmi and Rirkrit Tiravanija. In 2025, along with Stephanie Bailey, he established print_screen β an new editorial platform for contemporary art.
Nathaniel holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from AUB (UK) and an MRes (Master of Research) in Cultural Studies from the London Consortium. He is on the board of the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), Bengaluru.
