Reed Hearne

Country: United States 🇺🇸

Reed Hearne is an artist, photographer and writer. He earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of San Francisco and an MA in English from San Francisco State University. During that period he interned with renowned art historian Carl Loeffler at La Mammelle.

Reed says of his work, “I am not a purist when it comes to photography. Though the end result is my principal aim, the camera remains my essential tool. I collect color, texture and design in my viewfinder from subjects that are often mundane. Photo expressionism is about process in the way that expressionistic painting is about spontaneity and not preconceiving an outcome. I use only photo manipulation software and my own captured images to create digital paintings that do not represent something but instead are something.

In 2007 Reed returned to Arizona where he has deep family roots that go back to the pioneer settling of Scottsdale. His work is currently exhibited and sold from Reed Hearne/Digital Art at ReedHearne.Com as well as RiseArt.Com, an online gallery based in London.
