Ana Straže, (b. 1982, Celje, Slovenia) lives and works in Celje. Earned master’s degree (2013) at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana SI; field of research: Photography in Contemporary Art.
Ana Straze’s works engage us to creative visual articulation of contemporary experience, as she discovers the limits of aesthetics and notice the importance of simple everyday things.
She has received many awards and honourable mentions including the
Le Prix de la Photographie de Paris (PX3), Paris, France in 2019, and the IPA, The International Photography Awards, Los Angeles, USA in 2016, and the 2nd Edition Julia Cameron Award Winners, United Kingdom in 2011 and the EMZIN- Slovenian magazine for creative culture; Photo of the Year in 2010.
Her work has been exhibited in the galleries and included in group exhibitions since the 2013 and individual exhibitions since the 2014. She received national as well as international achievements and successfully participated in several competitions.
Among other, she presented her work independently at the Plevnik Kronkowska Gallery, Celje SI, with the Dog Days (2017) and Garden of Eden series (2016); at the Celje FOKUS, Festival of Authorial Photography, SI with the Malcolm (2016) and These flowers will never die series (2017).
She was also a part of event RIFLESSI/RIFLETTI, Tribeca Factory Interiors, Prato, IT, with the Forbidden Food series (2020) and at group exhibitions at the Racka Gallery, Celje SI with the Iceberg (2019), and Postcards series (2018); Vzigalica Gallery, Ljubljana SI, with the Garden of Eden series (2017); Gallery of Contemporary Art, Celje SI, with the series From Double Space to Europa Conamara (2020), These flowers will never die (2019), Notations & Postcards (2016), and Garden of Eden series (2016); AQ Gallery, Celje SI, with the Apathy (2014) and Garden of Eden series (2013).
Her work "Garden of Eden" is also a part of the Center for Contemporary Arts Celje permanent collection (since 2016).
With her latest photo series Forbidden Food she has received a lot of achievements. In 2020 she was featured in F-Stop Magazine - A photography magazine, Chicago; Digital Camera – Magazine for contemporary photographer, Celje; Newspaper DELO, Ljubljana; PLAIN Magazine, Space dedicated to proliferate good design and compelling art, Barcelona and she is collaborating with 'The Artling', Singapore & Shanghai.
In 2019 she was featured in PetaPixel, a leading blog covering the wonderful world of photography, California; Colossal, International platform for contemporary art and visual expression, Chicago; NT&RC, a newspaper and radio company Celje; PhotoVogue Portfolio, VOGUE Italia and she is collaborating with Uncoated Editions, NL.
