Serjio Lobourenko

Country: Moldova 🇲🇩

Serjio Lobourenko is a self-taught photographer specialized in portrait and fine art photography.
Practicing photography as a form of visual communication he has been working on commission for various online and print media for 12 years.
Serjio considers himself a broadcaster of experiences, thoughts and emotions. Working on Portraits is his favourite process: through deep dialogues, discussions and comments, Serjio builds communication with his subjects, discovering some traces of their personality that could be hidden even from themselves. His portraits convey personal stories, experience and emotions.
In the works of other photographers, he values a strong message expressed in clear and simple manner: either by form, color, emotion or a combination of all these. Among his strongest influences are such names from the world of contemporary photography as Tim Walker, Paolo Roversi, Juergen Teller, Albert Watson and also artists that marked the evolution of visual culture throughout the history.

As a photographer and citizen of a post-soviet country, Serjio is concerned about increasing censorship and biases in contemporary media and sees photography as a strong medium of communication able to help to prevail over censorship and biased media.

His photography is being frequently selected by PhotoVogue Project. Among his main achievements is First Prize at the 2021 Sony World Photo Awards Open Instagram Contest.
