Vladimir Yurkovic (*1964)
In 1988, he graduated in interdisciplinary studies of industrial design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. After graduation, he took over the design department at Chirana, Stará Turá - manufacturer of medical equipment and instruments. In 1990, he became a freelance professional and started working as a graphic designer and later also as a photographer.
In 1991, as an art director, he founded the studio September Ltd., one of the first companies in Slovakia specializing in graphic design and prepress production (DTP). In 2008, he established his own design company, YurkovicDesign. The company also operates its own photo studio and fine art print workshop.
The studio focuses on design, especially corporate identity, packaging design, publications, exhibition design, and website creation. The studio also applies its extensive experience and refined workflow to the production of original photographic and graphic artworks in the highest gallery quality, up to XXL formats.
The author has been continuously devoted to photography, and besides his independent artistic work, photography naturally complements his design practice. Created advertising visuals for several leading companies. He has created several photographic series, such as USA – WestSide Story, Men after Work, Musicians, Actors of the Palace Theatre, portraits of Czechoslovak photographers, and others. His most recent body of work is Vampil – The Magical Garden.
In 1997, he received the National Design Award. Other recognitions include the Golden Stick and Silver Stick awards in PortoroĹľ in 1998. In 1998 and 1999, he became a winner and finalist of the London International Advertising Awards. He has been awarded three times in the Slovak Most Beautiful Book competition and is also the author who won the WorldStar Packaging Award three times for the client Grafobal, along with many other distinctions.
